     Earth Stratosphere consists of Ozone layer. The Ozone layers protects the earth by absorbing ultra violet radiations. Most popular and commonly used CFC Refrigerants contain Chlorine, which reacts with Ozone and leads to the depletion of the Ozone layer. The depletion of Ozone layer will allow ultra violet radiations to reach the earth causing great concern to living things.

HOW TO AVOID SKIN CANCER & EYE CATARACT ?

    Large doses of ultra violet radiations cause skin cancer, eye cataract and damage to crops through seasonal variation. The need to protect the earth has forced all countries to prepare and follow action plans to ban and phase out the use of CFCs. This was formally ratified in the form of Montreal Protocol, during 1989. As per Montreal Protocol, developed countries have already eliminated CFC use by December, 1995 and are using Ozone friendly Refrigerants as alternative to CFC-12.

     In the small refrigeration appliances CFC-12 generally had been the most obvious choice. After extensive evaluation for ozone friendly Refrigerant HFC-134a has been identified as the most prominent alternative to CFC-12 having similar properties.

BAN ON R-12 COMPRESSORS FROM 2000 ?

     India being a Signatory to the Montreal Protocol, has to adopt all measures to phase out CFCs completely by 2010. By year 2000 no new R-12 compressors will be allowed to manufacture and 100% conversion of CFC compressors to other eco friendly compressors has to be made by then.

BRIGHT ANNEALED ECO-FRIENDLY COPPER TUBES 

     MANDEV HAS COMMISSIONED INDUSTRY’S MOST ADVANCED ANNEALING FURNACE TO MAKE ECO-FRIENDLY COPPER TUBES.

     MANDEV has invested more than Rs. 9 million for India's most advanced and sophisticated copper tube-annealing furnace. This new furnace will provide the highest level of tubing quality, which is consistent with MANDEV'S philosophy of continuing improvement and customer satisfaction.

     The furnace had introduced a new level cleanliness and superior quality in the manufacture of copper tubes for the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry. This system is the first of its kind for copper tube production in India.

     The new furnace got installed at MANDEV'S UMARGAON PLANT, which specializes in the manufacture of precision, thin-wall copper tube for the air-conditioning and refrigeration markets. The project got completed in mid 1995.

     The purchase of the furnace was made in order to meet both the efficiency and quality demands of air-conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers as they comply with the Montreal Protocol. The performance of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems with non-CFC or HCFC refrigerants can be jeopardized by minute amounts of contaminants within the tubing. The new furnace eliminates this problem with a patented, continuous purging system that removes virtually all residual gases, lubricants and oxidants both internally and externally. This precludes the need for any special cleaning before the tube is fabricated into the air-conditioning and refrigeration system.

     In addition, the totally enclosed convection design assures temper uniformity by providing precise temperature control and unmatched evenness of heating. This results in complete, consistent temper throughout the coil, which can be maintained to exact customer specifications throughout each production run.

     The new furnace is also specially designed and equipped to maintain the pancake coil's shape as it is annealed, reducing any coil distortion. This feature reduces the "tangling" effect that can occur when unwinding pancake coils at the customer's plant.

     In addition, MANDEV TUBES is adding an automated handling and redesigned packaging system that will minimize handling stress and potential damage to the tube prior to dispatch and in transit to the end user.
