Highlights and Benefits on using Expanded tubes for ACR installations
Eliminating use of couplings with Copper tubes
TECHNICAL ASPECTS :
- Ease of installation and saving in installation time and brazing time
- Supply of direct Factory expanded and tested tubes resulting in consistency and reliability. In case of couplings there are chances of gauge variation and chemical composition variation between the tubes and fittings because most contractors procure non-standard fittings from unbranded market (where they do not have facility of inspection of the tubes and fittings) and as there are very few branded suppliers in the market. This results in lot of chances of field failure of the piping installations.
- Higher reliability and timely completion of installation due to consistent factory expanded and quality checked tubes compared to similar expansion carried out at site by contractors using portable tools, which is highly inconsistent and wastage of pipe lengths.
- Chances of leakage from joints reduced by 50% as only one brazing is required per joint when using expanded tubes.

- Expanded tubes are RoHS compliant, having Low residue below 0.038 gm/sq.mt, Eddy current tested and with Concentric Wall Thickness, which is very important for CFC-free R410 refrigerant compatible ACR installations.

COMMERCIAL ASPECTS:
Straight Cost savings of 35 to 40% over use of couplings (fittings) used for connecting the pipe lengths by using expanded tubes. (details in attached sheet Cost Comparision.xls)
50 % Saving in Brazing Cost. Two brazing for every joint when coupling is used whereas only one brazing by use of Expanded tubes. E.g. If brazing cost is Rs. 30/- per brazing then for 1000 couplings total brazing cost would be 1000 x 2 x 30 = Rs. 60000/- and by using expanded tubes brazing cost would be 1000 x 30 = Rs. 30000/-
