COILS

TECHNICAL DATA

BUNCH AND PANCAKE COILS

Pancake coils are typically used in the installation of air conditioning and refrigerator systems. They are also used in OEM end uses. Pancake coils are provided in a flat coil which are two layers thick. Bunch coils are similar to pancake coils, but all of the individual loops have the same diameter much like the coil of wire.

PANCAKE AND BUNCH COILS – Produced in the following outside diameter size ranges.

MIN. DIAMETER -- 3/16” (4.76 mm)

MAX. DIAMETER – Ύ” (19.05 mm)

Lengths: Standard available length is 50 feet. We can provide lengths ranging from 2 meters up to 100 meters as per clients' requirement in coil form.

Packaging: Pancake coils are available in individual polythene bag, packed and stacked in corrugated box.

Testing: All coils are provided with no detectable defects and are supplied in accordance with ASTM specification.

Cleanliness: All annealed coils meet or exceed the cleanliness levels specified in ASTM B-280. Coils are capped with plastic end caps when so specified by the customer.

Tolerances: Tube in pancake or bunch coils are produced to the applicable specifications of ASTM B-68, B-280, or B-88.

Tempers: Bunch or annealed coils are provided in following tempers: dead soft, soft annealed and light annealed.

TEMPERS

The following are available depending on the product form. Consult specific data listed for each product to determine which tempers are available.

  1. Dead Soft: .070 mm grain and above – this is a large grained product and used where the product is cold worked repeatedly. This temper work hardens at a much at a slower rate but is not suitable for extreme forming.

  2. Soft Anneal (060): .040 -- .060 mm grain – this temper is suitable for general purpose bending and forming which is not as extreme as that requiring light annealed temper. Soft anneal temper works hardens at a slower rate than light anneal.

  3. Light Anneal (050): .015 -- .040 mm grain – preferred for tight bends and extreme forming application. This is an annealed temper with a fine grain size to prevent “orange peel” and fracturing when forming.
